air pollution-Why is it serious and how can we help?
air pollution in mongolia
Picture of ulaanbaatar
In Mongolia, natives live in tiny yurts. Because Mongolia has, according to www.climatestotravel.com, "long and frigid winters" , in order to stay warm, natives burn coal in their yurts. Burning coal creates air pollution, but there are no other ways they can stay warm. The smoke and smog from the yurts are trapped by mountains, (Mongolia is surrounded by mountains such as the Altai, Khentii, and Khangai.) and cannot escape, causing severe air pollution.

In addition to it's other air pollution problems, as said at http://www.themongolist.com , "Ulaanbaatar is unambiguously the coldest capital city in the world" Ulaanbaatar is Mongolia's capital. According to weather.com, "The cooler air is trapped under the warm air above that forms a kind of atmospheric 'lid'. This phenomenon is called winter inversion"
In Summary, Here Are Our Pollution Causes: |

(Smoke polluting air) |
2. Mountains Trapping Air
(Pollution can't escape) |
3. Cold Winters
(Winter inversion) |
4. Uninspected Cars
(Bad filters) |
